LUNDAZI, ZAMBIA – Two people in Lundazi district have been burnt after being struck by lightning following a downpour.
Lundazi District Health Director, Davy Zulu has confirmed to ZANIS in Lundazi and identified the victims as Rabecca Zimba 26, of Mchereka Trading Centre and Mulala Ndolo 15, a pupil at Chimoza Primary School in Kenani Village, both of Chief Mphamba’s area.
Dr Zulu said the incidents happened on March 26, between 15:00 hours and 17:00 hours when Rabecca and Mulala were struck by lightning at Mchereka trading Centre and Chimoza primary school respectively.
He disclosed that after the lightning strike, the victims were both left with burns on their hips and later hospitalized at Mchereka Rural Health Centre.
And a nurse in charge at Mchereka Health facility, Agness Goma described the condition of the duo as stable adding that, both patients have since been discharged after being treated.
